1. New words and phrases: blood, donate, charity, organization, one-to-one, give seats to the elderly, keep parks clean, make sure, have any trouble talking to…, make friends with

2. New structures: It is fantastic to work as a volunteer.

It is important for people to learn good manners.

It is kind of these volunteers to work in their spare time.

IV. Teaching procedures

Step1Revision and lead-in

1.Revise the content of reading.

T: In this week, we learnt about a big event called the Special Olympics World Games. There was a young man who volunteered for it. Who was he? Have you done any voluntary work like Liu Ming? Do you want to enjoy it?

2.Ask more about volunteer

T: Who can be a volunteer? What should a volunteer be like?

Ss: Everyone. Hind, helpful, patient, generous, polite…

3.Watch a video of “everybody is a hero”

T: Everybody can be a volunteer. Do we need super powers?

Ss: No.

T: But what do we need?

Step2 Presentation

1.Listen to a notice about “Volunteers needed at our school”.

T: Our school is asking a lot of volunteers. Listen to the teacher and find out what volunteers need.

T: You should be helpful, well-prepared and know what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. So try to be wise.

2.Task 1: Be helpful

(1)Be helpful in the Marathon.

Talk about T’s experience in the Lishui 2015 Half Marathon. Ask about Ss’ opinions.

T: What do you think of…?

S1/2/3: It is magical/amazing/interesting to work as a volunteer.

S4/5/6: It is difficult/important/sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to do some translation.

S7/8/9: It is difficult/easy/tiring to keep the baggage.
