After answering the question, then ask: have you ever help any of them? Can you share your experience with us?

Purpose: This part is to review what Ss have learnt about different kinds of people who needs help and encourage more Ss to think of the ways to help others.?

活动2 Speak up

Listen & Answer

Then I will say Peter is thinking about how to help those people in need. He is discussing with Class 1, Grade 8 students. Listen to their conversation and fill in the table:

PPTs to present the first listening strategy: Before listening, read and guess.

Ask Ss to use complete sentences to tell me the answer. Use we can…/ we can also…

After that, Ss will be asked what do they think is meaningful/good?

Pair work:

Tell Ss to work in pairs to make a dialogue to discuss what you can do to help people and your feelings.

When they finish, invite some Ss to make the dialogue. And then ask more students How do you feel when helping others? And share two sayings with them for the preparation of the last part.

Purpose: The speak-up part will be ranked as the first procedure because it has a bit connection with the previous part. The topic in this part can not only review the greeting part, but also covers the description of details when it comes to the theme. What’s more, the plan design can promote students’ ability to think, speak arouse their learning passion.

活动3【听&练】Listening & Practice

After the speak-up, I will show Ss a series of photos of children who live in mountain areas.

Encourage Ss to tell me their feeling after watching these students living conditions. They need our help. So Peter’s cousin Judy plans to go to work as a volunteer.

Then we move to Part A1

Before listening, tell students some background information and lead them to guess, eg, where is she going? South-west or North-west? Then teach them the second listening strategy: While listening, catch the key words.

Require Ss to answer questions with a sentence.

Here we go to A2. Before listening, teach Ss the third listening strategy: While listening, if the word is long, write some letters instead of the whole word eg. inf.----information

For Part A2, I will ask them to answer the questions in complete sentences as well.

For Part A3 on page90, I’d like Ss to fill in the information they have already known before listening. Then check the answers by themselves.

Purpose: Ss have listened to the same material twice, so they can get all the missing information from Part A1 & A2. For the third time, it is not difficult for them to get all the answers. Self-checking can be applied to Grade 8 students since they grasp basic grammar rules.

Assessment (Post- listening):

After that, Ss will do a Brain-storming:

What do you think of Judy? Why?

Give Ss 3 sayings to remember and they are also used for the preparation of the slogan of the last part.

活动5 【小组活动】Group Work

Ss will be divided into groups of 4. There is a group leader in each group. Encourage Ss to discuss and choose the volunteer project your group want to join in. And then prepare a speech including:
