To know the spirit of ORBIS doctors and nurses

To use the proper language to introduce charity work.

To understand the open-ended questions in an interview.

教学重点:

Words:

Phrases:

Sentences:

Many of our patients can’t afford to go to hospital, so we have to go to them.

Also, local doctors and nurses are invited on board to learn about eye operations.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1Revision

Read aloud the interview and fill in the blanks according to the content of the interview.

教学目的:利用填写课文内容相关信息唤起学生对所学知识的回忆,并对上节课所学内容进行了复习,更好地为本节课的学习做好铺垫。所填写的内容,都是本堂课需要理解运用的重点单词和短语。通过复习的形式呈现重点,给学生形成一个整体的概念。

Focus on the use of “can be prevented or cured, don’t have money for medical treatment”

3. Talk about deafness with the background information of a charity called Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

教学目的:本课的话题是ORBIS和blindness,结合上个单元学生所学的people who need help中的the deaf, 给学生提供相似语境:一个英国的专门为deaf people 创立的慈善机构:Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. 同样利用数字,让学生模仿介绍deafness,以达到在语境中正确使用语言表达意思的目的。

Talk about new skills taught by volunteer doctors of ORBIS

Find a sentence with the similar meaning

Focus on the use of “can’t afford sth” and “can’t afford to do sth”

Complete an interview with DR Ma

Focus on the use of “be used as, be used to doing , used to ”

4.Complete a passage about the work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People with the phrases and sentences learned.
