Step 1 Lead in
Play a song about colours to lead in the new lesson.
T: Today we are going to learn Unit 2 Colours. Before the new lesson, Let’s enjoy an English song about colours.
Review some words about colours. Show some pictures and encourage the students to say some words about colours.
T: we live in a colourful place, yes? We can see a lot of colourful things around us. e.g. the blue sky, white clouds, the green grass, red apples, orange oranges, purple grapes. Could you please say something more? Encourage the students to say something as much as possible.
Step 2 Presentation
Guess a riddle.
T: Now let’s guess a riddle:It’s?colourful. It looks like a bridge. It is high in the sky. We can’t see it on a sunny day. Sometimes we can see it after a rain shower. What’s it?
Ss: It’s a rainbow.
T: You do a good job. Yes, it’s a rainbow. Read after me : rainbow.
Overcome the new words.Show some pictures about the rainbow.
T : Have you ever seen a rainbow?
Ss: … T: I have some pictures of the rainbow to show you.
T: How many colors are there in a rainbow?
Ss: Seven.
T: Do the colours appear in order?
Ss: Yes, they do.
T:What are the seven colors?
Ss: they are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.Write down the words: “indigo, violet” on the blackboard. Then ask the Ss to read after me.
Ask the students to write down the words about colours of the rainbow in the blankets on Page 21.Then check the answers in the whole class.
