Step1.Lead-in

1.Ask: How many colours are there in a rainbow ?What is your favourite colour?

2. Brainstorm.

3. Ask “ What does mood mean?” and explain it.

4. Work in pairs to discuss: Do you think that colour can influence our mood?

5. Say: Today, we will learn about colours and moods, This article explains what colours can do and what characteristics they represent.

6.Say: There are many colours around us. Some colours are warm colours. Some colours can make us feel calm and peaceful. Please scan the reading passage and answer :

How many kinds of coloursare mentioned in the article ? What are they ?

Step II. Presentation.

1.Listen to the tape of the reading passage, give one or two examples of each kind of colour.

Calm colours: blue, white Warm colours: orange, yellow

Energetic colours: green Strong colours: red

2. Get five students to read out this article one paragraph by one paragraph.

3.Explain this article briefly, answer their questions ,point out the important language points and difficulties, make some example sentences for them to understand it better.

4. Teach and read the new words.

Step III. Practice.

1. Ask them to complete TB Part B1 , Check the answers with the whole class

2. Work in pairs to finish off TB. Part B2, Check the answers with some individual students.

3. Fill in the following form:

Warm colours

Strong colours
