Teaching steps

Step 1 Lead-in

Watch a video about World War II and answer the questions.

Q1: What is it about?(It’s about World War II )

Q2; When did it break out and end?(Teach the new word:break out)

Q3: What can you see in the video?Where are they from?(Teach the new word:Germany)

【设计意图:以观看二战的短视频的形式导入,直接切入主题并回答一些与该主题相关的一些问题,同时创设情境呈现相关生词及词组Germany 和 break out.,让学生对本课背景知识有一定的认知,并在语境中学习理解运用生词和短语,为后续学习少除生词障碍。】

Step 2 Presentation

Free talk

Look at the pictures about World War II and answer the questions,at the same time,teach the new words: symbol、German Nazis、Jews、in fear of 、go into hiding、died of、die from、record、 victory、 spirit.

【设计意图:通过边呈现一些二战的图片边以Free talk的形式谈论二战的话题,创设情境呈现相关生词及词组:German Nazis、Jews、in fear of 、go into hiding、died of、die from、record victory、 spirit.等,让学生对本课背景知识有一定的认知,并在语境中学习理解运用生词和短语,为后续学习少除生词障碍。】

Step 3 Listening

Part A1

(Before-listening) Please read through Part A1on Page 57. Try to predict the answers.

2. (While-listening) Listen to the first part of the programme and help Millie fill in the missing words,then check the answers. (P57)

3. (Post-listening) Read Part A1 and answer the questions:

(1) Who wrote the book The Diary of a Yong girl?

(2) When was the book first published?

(3). How many languages has the book been translated into?

(4)Why is the book so important?

【设计意图:听力技能的运用有两处体现:第一、听力前学生通读相关材料,弄清需要注意的问题,并对答案进行预测,带着问题听录音,做到有的放矢;第二、听后设计的问题能帮助学生更清楚地理解文本,同时检测之前的生词所呈现的效果。】

2. Part A2

(1) (Before-listening) Read through Part A2 on Page 57,predict the answers and teach them a listening tip.

(2) (While-listening) Listen to the second part of the programme and help Millie complete the timeline about Anne Frank, then check the answers.

【设计意图:通过be born in Germany导出a German girl,让学生感知生词German的词性及用法;通过听前让学生通读相关材料弄清需要注意的问题,并对答案进行预测,通过听力技巧的点拨帮助学生更准确地获取听力答案。】

3 .(Post-listening) Part A3

(1) Millie wants to tell her classmates about Anne. Help her complete the article with the information on page 57,check the answers.

(2) Read the passage together.
