Step 1 Brainstorm and Lead in

Show a picture of Spud and talk about his looks, personality, job, favorite colour, problem and growth

T: look at the picture. Who is he? How much do you know about him?

Step 2 Presentation (Group work)

Talk about his looks and personality by using not only … but also ..., both… and…, either…or…, neither …nor….

Show some possible sentences.

Talk about his favorite color by using object clauses introduced by that, if , whether.

Talk about his problem by using object clauses introduced by what/ whom/ when/ why/ how and give advice by using structures such as Why not? Why don’t you…? What /How about? Let’s…Shall we?

Talk about his growth and show some possible sentences.

Step 3 Making a conclusion
