Step 1. Leading-in
1. Show a piece of the award music for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Ask: What do you think of the music?
Do you like it or not? Why or why not?
2. T: Each time a medal was presented to a winner at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the award music was played. Do you know who wrote the music? The music was written by Tan Dun, a world-famous composer.
Step 2. Presentation
1. T: Read paragraph 1 and 2 and try to complete the following table to know the general information about Tan Dun.
Step 3. While-reading
1. T: As a composer, perhaps he is best known for winning an Oscar for his music in the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Let’s enjoy part of his music in the film.
