Step1. Lead-in
Students enjoy a video about Tibet and then have a free talk.
Ask: What did you see in the video?
Would you like to be a travel guide to show people around your hometown?
Step2. Presentation
Present three levels of tasks.
Level1. To be a good learner.
Level2. To be a good thinker.
Level3. To be a good speaker.
Purpose of design: By these steps, students can have a real context and their
interests in English can be aroused easily.
Step3. Level1. To be a good learner.
Students read two sentences and work out the definition of adverbial clause with “if” by themselves.
Students learn to distinguish the main clause and subordinate clause.
Purpose of design: By this, students can appreciate and find out the grammar
structure from the sentences by themselves.
Step3. Level2. To be a good thinker.
Students observe three sentences and work out the rules of tenses and structures. Meanwhile, the teacher provide related exercises.
Step4. Level3. To be a good speaker.
Students finish some exercises to consolidate the knowledge they have learnt.
Have a discussion.
Purpose of design: With the interaction among themselves, students can observe and explore the grammar rules in their words. Then they can share with each other by communicating or writing.
Step5. Make a summary with a mind map.
Purpose of design: Students make a conclusion with a mind map in order to consolidate the knowledge they have learned.
