1. Show some pictures about different kinds of TV programmes, ask students to tell what type of programme it is.

2. Ask students some questions about TV programmes:

What type of programme do you like best? Why?

What type of programme don’t you like?

How often do you watch TV every week?

Step 2. Presentation

1. Would you like to know the TV viewing habits of some students at Sunshine Middle School? Here are some information about three students. Read the following table carefully and finish their profile. (a memory testing)

2. Reading the information form again, guess what type of TV programme the three students like according to their hobbies. And fill in the blanks that you know first.

Step 3. Listening

Play the tape for the students. Ask students to listen carefully and finish Part A2. Then check the answers in class.

Step 4. Practicing

Millie is writing a draft report on the interviews. Let’s help her complete it with the information on P87. Then ask some students to read out their answers loudly.

Step 5. Speak up

1. Millie and Simon are giving their views on TV advertisements. Please listen to their conversations and answer the questions.

(1). Does Millie think TV ads are interesting?

(2). Why does Millie think so?

(3). Does Simon agree with Millie? Why or why not?

2. Work in pairs and tell your partner your point of view. Use the conversation as a model.
