Step1. Lead-in

Watch a movie “Peppa Pig”

Step2. Revision

Review the words about fruit, vegetables and food.

Step3. Pre-reading

1. Ask Ss the following questions:

What do you eat/like for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

I like…,but I don’t like…

Do you eat healthy food?

2. Present the pictures of some sports stars to bring up today’s leading role, Cindy Smith.

3. Ask Ss to look at the title of the article and guess the meaning of it.

Step4. While-Reading

1. T: Well, let’s see a sports star’s eating habits. Cindy Smith is a volleyball star. What does she like for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Does she eat ice-cream? Now let’s read the magazine article about Cindy Smith. First, read the article and circle the food words.

(Ss read the article and circle the food words quickly.)

2. Read the article and answer the questions.(Divide the students into groups)

a. What fruit does Cindy like?

b. Does Cindy like hamburgers? Why?

c. What does Cindy like for dinner?

d. Does Cindy eat ice-cream? Why?

e. What do you think of Cindy’s eating habits?

3. We know Cindy has healthy eating habits. What food does she like? What food doesn’t she like? Read the article and finish the mind map.
