Step1 Lead-in
1.Watch a video about Beijing
2.Show Ss some pictures of Asian countries, get them to guess which country it is.
Encourage Ss to say something about these countries.
Step2 Presentation --- Comic strip
1.Show Ss a picture of the Great Wall, then teach the old saying: He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man.
2.Tell Ss that Eddie and Hobo are visiting the Great Wall.
Get the students to listen to the tape and find out what happened.
①What does Hobo think of the Great Wall?
②Will Eddie go on to the end? why?
③What is Eddie going to do?
3.Get Ss to read and practise the dialogue and then act the it out.
4.Retell the dialogue
5.Suppose you are Hobo, what will you say to Eddie?
Keep moving, Eddie.
Never give up, although there is a long way to go.
If you can do it step by step, you will make it.
Step3 Presentation ---Welcome to the unit (Part A)
1.Show Ss some pictures and ask them to try to guess the following Chinese things.
2.Ask: Do you know other Chinese things?
Encourage Ss to talk about the pictures and say more about Chinese things. Get Ss to talk about some famous Chinese things.
3.To complete Part A on P7.
Step4 Listen and repeat (Part B)
1.Show Ss some pictures of Beijing. Ask: Have you ever visited Beijing? Can you introduce the following places of interest?
Talk about some places of interest in Beijing. Encourage the Ss to describe them.
