教学步骤
第一步:导入
Show a map of the world and learn the location of Asia
T:How many continents are there in the world? What are they? (引入主题:Asia)
Asia is one of the birthplace of human civilization. The Yellow River basin is the birthplace of Chinese ancient civilization and is the most prosperous area in early Chinese history. As we know China plays an important role in Asia. It is a country rich in culture. Do you know something special about Chinese culture? Let’s watch a video.
(设计意图:学生通过观看“中国文化”短片,学习中国传统特色的事物的名称,如:giant panda、Chinese?calligraphy、lucky Character、tea、Chinese medicine、Porcelain (china)、silk、the Spring Festive、the Great Wall 等。教师围绕主题创设情境,铺垫必要的语言和文化背景知识,激活学生已有的知识和经验。运用英语介绍中国传统文化,诸如:京剧、传统节日、绘画、园林、武术、饮食文化等,让学生感知中国文化,达到对语言知识的掌握,促进文化意识的形成,培养爱国情怀。)
第二步:呈现
1.学习课本Part A内容
通过PPT呈现dragon dance、Chinese knot、Chinese paper-cutting、Chinese kungfu、Beijing opera、chopsticks
教师追问:1)What is dragon dance/Chinese knot /Chinese paper-cutting used for?
2)Can you say something about “Chinese kungfu” and“ Beijing opera ”?
学生1:Dragon dance is a kind of traditional Chinese art. It is usually used for the celebrations of the Spring Festival and the opening of new stores.
学生2:Chinese knot and Chinese paper-cutting are another two kinds of traditional Chinese art. When the Spring Festival or the wedding day is coming, we hang Chinese knots in the rooms and put up Chinese paper-cuttings on the walls, the doors or the windows. They represent happiness and good luck.
学生3:Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are both Kungfu stars. Chinese kungfu was first spread by Bruce Lee through films.
学生4:Beijing opera is one of the most popular traditional Chinese art. It has strong local color.
(设计意图:学生在学习了语言知识之后,教师不应该只是让学生识记这些名称,而是更需要帮助学生将语言知识的学习转化为语言能力的运用,引导学生的思维由低级向高级发展。)
2. 学习课本Part B内容
(1)教师问:What place do you want to visit most in China? 接着用PPT 呈现中国一些风景名胜,如:the Terracotta Warriors、Waitan (the Bund)、 the Great Wall、GuiLin、The Potala Palace、Mount Tai、West Lake等,学习这些名胜的名称。
(2)教师追问:Why do you want to visit it?
Give an example: I want to visit the Great Wall. Because it is the longest wall in the world. It runs over 6000 kilometers. It was first built more than 2000 years ago. As an old saying goes, “He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man.”
(设计意图:培养学生的文化意识。文化意识指对中外文化的理解和对优秀文化的认同,是学生在全球化背景下表现出的跨文化认知、态度和行为取向。文化意识体现英语学科核心素养的价值取向。文化意识的培育有助于学生增强国家认同和家国情怀,坚定文化自信,成长为有文明素养和社会责任感的人。)
(3)向学生解释Part B的语境,教师说:kevin is a British exchange student. He’s asking Millie for suggestions on his travel plan. Let’s listen to the conversation and find out what Millie’s suggestions are.
第三步:活动
Pair work
Work in pairs to talk about some famous places and special things in our hometown, Nanjing. Then make up a new dialogue, using the dialogue in Part B as a model.
