Teaching procedures
Step1 Lead-in
Talking about the places of interest in Beijing.
1. Show some pictures to the students. Get them to guess
what it is.
2. Encourage the students to describe them.
Step2 Showing and discussion
Get to know Chinese things.
1. Show the pictures about Chinese things such as: dragon
dance, Chinese opera, chopsticks, Chinese knot, Chinese paper cut and Chinese kung fu.
2. Encourage the students to talk about the pictures.
3. Encourage the students to say more about Chinese things.
4. Get the students to talk about some famous Chinese things.
Step3 :Learn the “wecome to the unit”
1. Explain the context of PartA.Millie is showing a magazine to the British exchange students .It contains pictures of things in China .
Ask students to label the pictures in PartA , using the words from the box ..If students are unsure of any words, encourage them to use a dictionary or guess the meaning .
When students have finished these tasks , ask some of them to read out the words .Listen for mistakes and mispronunciations.
2. show the pictures of Tian’anmen ,the Palace Museum and the Great Wall and so on .Choose a student to read out the names.
3.Answer the following Qs:
Where does Millie suggest visiting first ?
What special things can we see if we are in Beijing ?
4. Get the students to read and practice the dialogue and
then act the dialogue out.??
Step4:Presentation:
1. Talk about Chinese culture and ask students to think of
more things that China is famous for or that foreigners
recognize as being special to China.
2. Present the picture of the Great Wall and ask when
Eddie and Hobo are visiting the Great Wall?
