Step 1 导入
1 Show some pictures about Beijing . For example : Tian’anmen Square ,the Palace Museum , the Great Wall and Summer Palace etc . Let the students say the names about the places .
2 Show some pictures about Guilin. For example : Lijiang River and Reed Flute Cave . The teacher ask the students : Have you ever been to these places ? What do you think of these places ?
3 Show some pictures and teach the new words : emperor , attraction , wonder , lie ,cave and hire . Then
let the students finish the exercises on Page 10 Part B1.
Step 2 呈现
1.Teacher :Millie wants to help the exchange students learn more about different cities in China . She has found two articles written by two students . Here are the articles.
2. Look at these questions before you listen to the recording of the first article .
(1)Who used to live in the Forbidden City ? (The emperors of the Ming and Qing.)
(2)Why do many tourists go to Tian’anmen Square early in the morning ? (To watch the raising of the
national flag .)
(3) Where is the Summer Palace ? ( In the north-west of Beijing .)
(4) How long is the Great Wall ? (Over 6,000 kilometres .)
3. Play the tape : Welcome to Beijing . Let the students listen and answer the questions .
4. Check the answers and write the new words : raising , flag .
5. Play the tape again and let the students read after the tape . Then write the new words : landscape,
watchtower .
6. Let the students finish the exercises on Page 10 Part B2.
