I. What is body language?
1.Show some pictures of facial expressions and gestures, then get the students to guess their meanings.
2. Body Language is a set of _____________, _____________ and ____________. People use to make themselves understood. It’s one form of communication without using any words.
II. Presentation of some kinds of body language in the west.
1. Show some common kinds of body language in the west (p17) on the screen
2. Divide the body language(on p17) into two parts.
4. Guessing game. (One student acts out the following words , and the other students guess the word).

III. Tell students that the same body language may have different meanings in different countries and give some examples
1.In most cultures, it means OK ; in Russia, Brazil and Turkey(土耳其),it is an insult ; in France and Belgium(比利时), it means zero or worthless ; in Japan, it means money .
2.In most countries “nod one’s head” means“agreement”and “shake one’s head” means “disagreement”, but in some countries of South Asia, it is just the opposite.
Consolidation
Ask the students to read the passage and answer the following questions.
(1)What does the picture mean in Japan?
(2)When is it more important to look at one’s body language?
(3)What do the gestures “nod one’s head” and “shake one’s head” mean in some countries of South Asia?
