Step 1 Lead-in

Eddie and Hobo are our good friends ..They bring us happiness and laughter .Today we will learn Unit 3, what will happen to them ?Look at the picture. What is Eddie doing? (He is writing something).In fact, he is writing a letter. Why is Eddie writing a letter?

Step 2 Listen and answer

listen to the tape and answer the following questions.

(1). Why is Eddie writing this letter? (Because he thinks Hobo is too lazy.)

(2). Will Hobo post the letter for Eddie?(No, he won’t)

Step 3 Read after the tape and answer

Why doesn’t Hobo post the letter for Eddie?(Because Eddie wants to complain about Hobo to the robot shop)

向某人抱怨 complain to sb. 一封投诉信 a complaint letter

向某人抱怨某事

我将向经理投诉这糟糕的服务。I will complain about the bad service to the manager.

(2). post sth for sb

在你回家的路上，帮我寄封信。Post the letter for me on your way home.

Many modern inventions have made a difference in our life. They have changed the way we live. Do you know these inventions?( washing machines/TV/computers/mobile phones and so on)

Today we will talk about another invention, What is it ? (It’s a robot)

Maybe we just see robots in some science fiction films . In fact, in some foreign countries ,they have come into houses.

Step2. The advantages of robots

Now let’s watch a short video .about a family robot. It’s name is Jibo. How could this robot help people?

(They could take photos/send and receive emails /play with children/;teach children)
