1. Play a short video of a robot (以短片形式导入,让学生直观地认识机器人并引起他们参与讨论的兴趣) Ask: What is it? (A robot)

What is the robot doing ? (It is running)

2. Say: Robots are in different shapes. Some only have arms or legs ,

Some may have no heads. But most of them look like human.

Show students some more pictures of robots , then ask: What parts does a robot have ?

Ask them to look at the screen and try to draw lines

3. Say: Robots can do many things, such as: cooking, sweeping the floor

Ask: If you have a robot at home what else do you want it to do for you ?

(Such as: cooking breakfast, washing the dishes, making the bed) (让学生发挥想像力,设想机器人可以做的事情,提高学生的创新能力)

Step two: Presentation

1. Say: Daniel is interested in robots too. Amy found an article for him .Let’s listen to the article and try to put “T”or “F”

1) The robot made Mr. Jiang’s life much easier. 2) The robot ironed his shirts at the weekend. 3) Mr. Jiang had to do the housework every day.

4) The robot could cook dinner for him.

5) The robot never went wrong .

6) Mr. Jiang wanted to return the robot to the shop. (用投影仪展示问题,让学生边听边判断,提高学生听力能力和从听力材料中获取有效信息的能力)

2.Ask students to read the first two paragraphs quickly and try to answer the following questions:

1) Who is the first one in Sunshine Town to own a robot? (Mr. Jiang)

2) What does Mr. Jiang do ? (He is a salesman)

3) Where does he work? ( In moonlight Town)

4) Why did he buy a robot ? ( In order to have more spare time)

5) Where did he buy it (From a robot shop)

(让学生独立阅读一、二两段,回答这五个问题,培养学生独自阅读思考能力)

3.Ask students to read paragraph 3—paragraph 5.Work in pairs to

work out the advantages to have a robot at home:

Advantages: cook meals ; iron shirts ; make a lunchbox ;clean the

flat ; do the laundry ;wash the dishes; make the

bed ; air the room ; go shopping …

(让学生做pair work , 讨论拥有机器人的好处,体现英语素质教学中团结合作的交流精神,促进学生互相帮助、协作。)

4. Ask the students to read paragraph 6.Work in pairs to work out the

disadvantages to have a robot at home.
