Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead in
Show pictures of three serious pollutions on the Earth, and talk about the situation of our home planet. (Practise adverbial clauses and simple sentences)
To lead in the topic and remind the students to protect the environment.
Step 2 Presentation
There is a preview of a TV programme, read the notes first. (New words)
Listen to the tape, try to find out the information on the note.
Make a report on living on Mars in pairs according to the PPT.
Read the report together loudly.
Step 3 Listening
Here is the TV programme, listen to the tape, and fill in blanks according to what the host said.
Listen to the discussion among the three students, and fill in blanks (before listening, give some time for the students to go through and make predictions).
Listen again if necessary.
Step 4 Debate: Do you want to move to Mars?
Divide the whole class into two groups, then give time to prepare (present some pictures to give suggestions).
Each group share one idea of moving to Mars, one group by one group.
Step 5 Speak up
Listen to the dialogue between Daniel and Sandy, find out if they would like to move to Mars or stay on the Earth.
Listen again, finish some multiple choices. (Take out exercise book and make notes).
Open your books, and read after the tape.
Make a similar dialogue with your partner.
Invite two groups to present your dialogues to us.
Step 6 Conclusion
1. The Earth is our home, we must protect it and love it.
2. The development of the world depends on humans, depends on you. Your hard-working makes our country strong.
3. The future of humans is in your hands. Keep practising and keep dreaming.
