Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in

Ask: What do you think of our new classroom?

Then say: What you did just now is assessment. Get the students to guess the meaning of assessment.

Then ask another question: What do you think of yourself?

Ask the students to describe themselves and tell them the meaning of self-assessment.

Step 2 Presentation

Ask: What do you think of self-assessment?

Encourage the students to express their thoughts. Help them to say: If we do a self-assessment, we can find out strength and weaknesses. Then we can make a plan to improve the way we study.

Step 3 Practice

Say: I will show you how to assess somebody. I will assess three students about their English studies. Please guess who they are.

The first student:

He often asks questions in class.

Sometimes his questions are a little strange.

His handwriting is different from other classmates.

I think he should improve his handwriting, or he will lose some points in tests.

The second student:

The girl is clever and confident.

She likes to express her ideas in class.
