Step 1. Preparation
Greet the students and watch a short movie. Explain healthy and maybe by giving them examples. I think vegetables are healthy. I think ice-cream is not healthy. I think maybe meat is healthy. Then ask students to finish 2a. Which food do you think is healthy? Check Yes, Maybe or No.
Step 2. Presentation
Before reading , tell students what I like for breakfast/ lunch/ dinner to lead out the new words and phrases like eating habits, eat well, don’t want to be fat. Then introduce Cindy, the sports star to them, tell them that Cindy eats well and ask them if they want to know what she eats to arouse interest.
Step 3. Reading
A. Lead-in . listen and circle the food names.
B. Skimming. Ask students to answer the questions: 1. Do you think Cindy is healthy? Why? 2. read the first paragraph and find out what they’re talking about.
C. Scanning. Read the passage and fill in the chart and answer the questions.

D. Read the passage together and discuss what the phrases mean in groups.
Step 4. Practice
A. To enhance their knowledge, we can play a game called Brain Storm. Ask students to use the phrases to make sentences. Eating habits / what fruit / well / ask about / healthy / question / sports star / really / after dinner / want to
B. Finish 2c. Write five sentences about Cindy’s eating habits.
C. Now students have known Cindy well, ask them to retell the passage by introducing Cindy to the teacher.
