教学重点与难点

教师需帮助学生通过语境理解习语的特殊含义，并且学会使用习语来进行适当表达。

教学目标

By the end of the period, the students are expected to:

1. develop listening skills including guessing the meaning of idioms from the context and taking notes;

2. obtain a good knowledge of target colour idioms and strengthen the cross-cultural awareness;

3. use the target colour idioms to express themselves.

教学活动设计

Lead-in Stage

活动1 Interact with the teacher and review colour associations.

1. Where is blue most commonly seen? And what about green?

2. How do people feel when they see these two colors?

3. Where do people often see the color red? How do people feel?

4. What about black? What kind of feelings do people have when they see the color black?

通过复习主课文中有关不同颜色的联想，使学生为接下来的猜测习语含义做铺垫。

Pre-listening Stage

活动1 Figure out what an idiom is.

此活动通过一幅白羊与黑羊的图片，引出“the black sheep of the family”，学生通过图片，对“黑色”的联想，以及所给语境，准确猜出这个习语的真正含义，由此他们了解了习语的概念和学习习语的方法——即从语境中学习。

活动2 Listen to the teacher’s explanation of the origin of an idiom.

教师此时补充该习语的由来，使学生了解习语往往与历史和文化有关。

While-listening Stage

活动1 Listen to a dialogue, identify the colour idiom and guess its meaning.

学生第一遍听对话，需要在语境中识别习语in the black，第二遍听此对话，需要猜出该习语的意义。培养了学生利用上下文猜测词义的能力。教师接着引出了in the red，要求学生将其与in the black作对比，再给出了一个图表，反映一家公司的经营状况，学生需用in the black与in the red正确描述图表反映的内容，起到了操练习语的目的。

活动2 Listen to a lecture on colour idioms, note down the idioms and their meanings and try to use them in different situations.

讲座内容播放两遍，学生需要写下颜色习语，并且从上下文猜测习语的含义，只需要记下关键词，锻炼了学生的边听边记笔记的能力。这一部分要求学生听出be caught red-handed, green fingers, once in a blue moon与white elephant。听完之后，针对每一个习语，教师借助各种社会情境，如运用图片，举例等方式让学生操练这些习语，运用互动技能进行恰当表达。尤其在讲解white elephant时，让学生从白象牌电池在海外市场的销售败绩中，体会文化对经济与生活的巨大影响。
