二、教材与学情分析
本文以美国1906年旧金山大地震为故事背景，按照时间顺序讲述了小男孩Leo在地震中幸存下来并决定重建家园的故事。文中充满了生动的动作描写、环境描写和人物描写，让读者深刻地体会地震的破坏性和人物的情感变化，并感受灾难中人性的光辉。
本课的教学对象是同济一附中高二（3）班学生，学生课前有预习文本，并对记叙文文体比较熟悉，能够通过skimming和scanning等技能读懂大意，梳理结构并理解相关信息。但是，文中生词和难词较多，并且学生缺乏地震的真实体验，从而也较难切身体会幸存者的情感经历。
