2. This revision class is focusing on the number of time and price--- the mostly examined items in many topics like shopping, appointment and business in NCEE which are also the easiest part to lose scores due to lack of necessary listening skills;

3. Another reason for choosing time and price for the topic of this class is their practicability to the students of Yiwu—the “World’s Capital of Small Commodities”.

Teaching objectives

At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to:

Knowledge Objectives

1. pronounce some confusing numbers correctly such as 17 and 70;

2. summarize the vocabulary (words and chunks) concerning time and price which are required in listening, such as

discount, 20%off, double the price, three minutes earlier and so on;

3. enrich their expressions on certain words or chunks, such as 10:15 can be expressed as ten fifteen, fifteen past

ten or a quarter past ten.

Ability Objectives

1. know how to grasp information after sorting out vocabulary and confusing information;

2. further realize the importance of taking notes, even can happily accept the way of shorthand(速记);

3. be familiar with some basic calculation while taking notes;

4. figure the implied meaning of speakers when talking about time and price, by judging from their tone and

intonation; practice their translation while doing the final activity.

Emotional Objectives

1. strengthen their culture pride of being a Yiwu native and appreciate the qualities from the story “鸡毛换糖”;

2. think out what are the qualities a successful Yiwu businessman should posses, such as punctuality, flexibility, honesty

and so on;

3. naturally have an ambition—walk out and realize their Yiwu Dream.

Important points

Students will be assisted to summarize useful vocabularies with the items of time and price and clear up possible pronunciation mistakes.

2. Students will be enabled to apply useful listening skills to deal with listening exercises,especially the intonation of the speakers.
