Step 1: Lead in
Listen to the famous song Hotel California which sung by the famous American bank Eagles and review what the students learned before about California: California is the third largest state in the USA. It has some important cities such as New York, Washington D.C , Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.

Step 2: Reading
1.Before reading
Show the students some background information : George is on holiday in the USA and he is touring around California. He wrote his diary when he was in San Francisco.
Where is San Francisco? San Francisco is located in the west of the USA. it is a popular city which is known for its modern architecture and its famous landmarks.
Look at George’s Photos below and know the names of these famous landmarks.

2. While reading
