Ⅰ.The General Idea of This Period
This reading passage is a travel diary about Alice Thompson’s experience of travelling to the central part of Australia.In her travel she describes food, the scenery, the people as well as the train she took.This period aims at developing students’ reading ability.To train their reading strategies to a full extent, I have organized a wide variety of activities .This period is made up of three parts.The first one is mainly designed to help the students know more background knowledge of Australia.The second one is designed to practice the students’ reading comprehension ability. Ask the students to skim the passage.After this, instruct the students for some details. At last let the students have a hot discussion to make use of and consolidate what they have learned.
Teaching Aims
1) To know something about traveling to the central part of Australia.
2)Train the students’ speaking skills through individual and pair work.
3)Develop the students’reading ability.
4)Instruct the students to study in daily life by paying attention to everything at hand, combining the English language study with knowledge of other subjects as well as culture and life.
