Step 1: Lead in
There are five animal pictures on the PPT, under which there are five topics. Each group chooses one of them, so every group gets a topic and discuss with your partner.
Today we will pay a visit to Australia with another friend named Alice Thompson. Through her eyes let’s see what did she see and hear on the train.
Step 2: Fast reading
Read the passage again find the main idea of each paragraph (5m)
Para 1: I had my first ride on a train
Para 2: The food and the scenery
Para 3: What I did on the train
Para 4: Why the train is called the Ghan
Para 5: What camels did in the past
Para 6: How Afghans dealt with camels
Step 3 : Detailed reading
There are several questions of each paragraph. Students read the passage paragraph by paragraph
Para 1: I had my first ride on a train
Where did she start?
Para 2: The food and the scenery
How was the scenery for the first few hundred kilometers?
Para 3: What I did on the train
