Step one:Warming-up
Teacher: (The teacher greets the students ) Today we are going to experience something special. (arouse Ss’ curiosity). First, let’s enjoy a short video (from the movie Now You Will See Me 2), and
hold our breath to see what is happening?
This guy should be able to stop the rain! It’s really unbelievable! Do you often see that happen in our daily life?
Ss: No!(logically!)
T: It doesn’t matter, bacause you are expected to experience the magic of science around us.
Step two: Leading-in
T: Here we go! Here I have got two eggs in my hands. One is a boiled egg with the shell on it, the other is not. How can we remove the shell from the egg without breaking it? Do you know why?
The teacher shows all the information about the above experiment on the PPT.(with pictures for Ss’ better understanding)
Aim
The aim of this experiment is to remove the shell from an egg without breaking the egg.
Equipment
To carry out the experiment, you will need the following things: a glass, a small saucepan, water, an egg and about 250ml of vinegar.
Method
First, boil the egg for about fifteen minutes in a saucepan of water. Next, place the egg in the glass and cover it with the vinegar. After that, leave the egg in the vinegar for 24 hours.
Result
Oberserve the egg carefully. At first you will see bubbles of gas forming on its surface. This gas is carbon dioxide. After 24 hours, the shell will disappear completely.
