Stage 1: Pre-reading (5 min)
Step 1: Word review
(设计意图:本篇课文生词较多,课前先让学生熟记相关词汇,课堂上通过检查学生预习单词的情况,为课文阅读做好词汇上的预热)
Step2 : Show pictures of various forms of art styles.
Step 3. Show some famous western paintings and ask students to use some adjectives to describe them.

Stage 2: While-reading (30min)
Step 4: Fast reading: (5 min)
Ask students to skim the text to get the general idea. Fill in the blanks and do the match work.
Step 5: Detailed Reading----Group work (20min)
Divide the class into 4 groups. Each group work together to summarize the characteristics of a certain time period and fill in the blanks.
Presentation: encourage students to come to the platform and share their answers. For example, when the volunteer from group 1 is giving a presentation, the other groups are required to listen to him/her carefully and try to fill in the blanks on the Middle Ages according to his/her description.
