The teaching process
Step 1. Leading in
Ask the students to enjoy a piece of music to form a picture in their mind, which naturally leads in the topic—fine arts.
Step 2. Presentation and Brainstorm
1. Show the students famous paintings to ask them to give the names of the paintings and the painters. Then ask the students to give some words related to painting. Nouns: cartoon, sketch, watercolor, oil painting, portrait, etc.
Verbs: imitate, copy, draw, observe, paint, etc.
Adjectives: colorful, vivid, delightful, alive, enjoyable, etc.
2. Ask the students to make up a short dialogue using the above words.
example: Student A: What are you doing? (pair work)
Student B: I am enjoying the painting.
Step 3. Reading
Tell the students we are going to read a passage about different kinds of paintings and painters.
1. Listening
Ask the students to listen to the text to get the main idea of the text, then match the painting with the paragraphs.(activity 2 on page 32)
2.Careful reading
Ask the students to read the text carefully, and the deal with multiply choices. (five multiply choices)
3. note-taking
Ask the students to read the passage for the third time, and take down important information. Then finish the forms about the famous painters.
