Teaching ProceduresStep 1: Presentation:
Tell the students: Today we’ll learn Module 1 Our Body & Healthy Habits Vocabulary & Reading
Then, present the key words in the passages with a group of pictures.
Step 2: Practice:
Practise the key words using two activities:
Activity 1. Join these words to make up a sentence.: the injury, the mother, her son, looked anxious, was serious, injured his arm and, because,
(The mother looked anxious because her son injured his arm and the injury was serious.)
Activity 2: Fill in the blanks with words you have just learnt:
The ______ of basketball players must be healthy, especially when the players are students. As ______ of the basketball team, Tim thinks it important for his team to have seven _______ lessons every day, so the team just practice after school. It is unavoidable for basketball players to get ______. It is a ______experience. However, they all forget about the ___________ as soon as they are on the playground.
Step 3. Lead-in to Zhou Kai(1)
Show the students pictures of people doing sports and ask the question: ----What are they doing? After the students give the correct answer, say to them:
If we want to be healthy , one of the most important things we should do is to do some sports or take some exercise regularly. However, sports and exercise should be done in the right way. Otherwise, more harm than good will be done.
Today we’ll read two passages about Zhou Kai, from which we can know about Zhou Kai.
Step 4: Fast Reading:
Activity 1:Ask the students to read Zhou Kai(1) with the questions:
Q1: Why is Zhou Kai’s mother anxious?
(Because he is going to play football in the rain without a jacket.)
Q2: What does Zhou Kai’s mother think will happen to Zhou Kai?
(She thinks he’ll catch a bad cold.)
Then call back the answers:
Step5: Careful Reading & Practice:
Ask the students to read Zhou Kai(1) again and pay attention to the dialogue between Zhou Kai and his mother.
Activity 2: :First pick out the words Zhou Kai’s mother says and then answer the questions in Zhou Kai’s words.
