本套教材是外研版必修3，着重培养学生的独立的思维、实践能力，努力使学生获得适应学习社会所需的英语基础知识和基本技能，了解文化差异，发展健全人格，培养合作精神和社会公德意识。教材贯彻文化教育的思想，介绍西方文化，更重要的是使学生在理解和尊重外国文化的同时更加热爱祖国文化。而本节课学的是必修3模块1 Europe的 Introduction部分就整个模块来说起到了导入和铺垫的作用，即为Reading Great European Cities和Cultural Corner The European Union打前站，也是整本书开头，同时也为后边几个模块的学习架设一座桥梁将中西方文化有机地结合在一起。

教学内容和解析

There are 2 parts in this period. From the introduction part, the students will be able to know some European countries and their capitals, while the Language Points part focus on describing location. To motivate the Ss’ enthusiasm in taking part in the classroom activities, I can organize a competition to decide which one will do the best in completing the tasks.

学情

1）高一下学期的学生基本了解和适应了新教材的特点；

2）经过开学两个月的演练，自主学习习惯正在养成；

3）对事物有好奇心，思维活跃，但思考不深入，逻辑性不强；

4）对新知识具有强烈的求知欲，对活动有强烈的参与意识；

5）有一定的地理知识和识图能力，对本模块欧洲的学习很有帮助；

6）已对介词in , on , to ，off , across表地点有所了解，通过这节课的学习更能准确使用。

Help Ss get familiar with the name of some European countries and the main cities.

Get Ss to describe the location of a country or a city in the similar way.

Train Ss speaking ability via the individual performances.

Write similar sentences to describe a location.

Help Ss get prepared for reading.

They can know more about European countries from the Introduction and also know how to describe their favorite places in an acceptable way via filling in the blank exercises.
