In this period, the students will be guided to guess words and understand the structure of the passage.

In this period, try to cultivate students’ emotion about some damage brought by disasters.And let students to know more about the features of natural disasters

教学重难点1.The students are able to master new words, phrases and key sentences.(重点)2.The students should have a clear picture of the passage and try to finish questions on the passage within the limited time.(重点难点)教具准备The blackboard, the multi-media教学活动过程教师活动学生活动设计意图Step 1 Lead-in

Tell students that nature can not only bring people benefits but also carry some disasters

Show some pictures about disasters and encourage them to speak the name of disasters out in English.

(supported by the multi-media)Students will guess the name of disasters all together.

To stimulate the students’ learning interest and

motivation. And

to bring out the topic of this class.

Step 2 Match new words with their definitions

Show some words which are from the passage. And then show some sentences which are the definitions of these words.

Ask students to match the words and the sentences correctly.

After the practice, students will master the difficult words and phrases of the passage, which can let them understand the meaning of the passage easily.

To encourage themselves to learn the passage and find out something new.

Step 3 Fast-Reading .

Ask students to skim the passage and to find out what is the main idea of each paragraph.

After reading, match the article with its main idea.

The students will try to be volunteers and say out the right answer of the question.The other students will judge whether his answer is true or false.

To encourage the students to use the cooperative learning method.

Step 4 Careful Reading

Read the first part of the passage carefully and answer the questions.

Read the second part of the passage and choose “T”or “F”of each sentence.
