1. Show a picture of Beijing Olympic Games and ask a question:
-Do you remember the beginning of Beijing Olympic Games?
2. The teacher will present a video of the beginning of 2008 Olympic Games to help them learn about the popularity of Confucius and Chinese culture. And they have to answer the following question:
-One person has been mentioned in the video, who is he?
T:The beginning of Beijing Olympic Games was influenced by many Confucius' ideas. He is one of the most famous ancient China, and his ideas are being used in modern society.Today let’s learn some other great person of ancient China.
Step 2Reading and vocabulary
Show the pictures of the philosophers and then ask two questions:
i. Who are they?
ii.Who is the youngest and who is the oldest?
Reading skill
There is no need to read the whole passage, instead, we should look for the imformation we really need. Such as, numbers, names, places.
Read the passage aloud and find the main idea of each paragraph.
Reading skill
Main ideas usually appear at the beginning of the passage and the first sentence of each paragragh or the end of the passage.
Read the passage again and discuss,then fill in the chart with proper information according to the passage.
