Writing is very important but difficult for all the students. This task is about the advantages and disadvantages of on line shopping. Through discussion, debate and drawing conclusions, I will tell students how to write a compared article.

2. Teaching aims and demands

To learn to write different opinions of one thing.

To improve the ability in writing compared article.

To train students' listening and speaking skills.

Ⅱ Analysis of the students

Online shopping is familiar to the students, so they can say something about the topic.

They are lacking in vocabulary and they don’t know how to write compared article properly.

They don’t often use English to express themselves and communicate with others.

Some students are very poor at writing.

Ⅲ Analysis of the teaching methods and approach

Group competition, pair-work and debate approaches are applied. It attempts to improve the students’ communicative ability and develop their interest about English. At the same time, I will use make up sentences to help students to finish writing easily.

Teaching tools:

Multimedia is used as an assistant means for the students to comprehend the topic and complete the task.

Ⅳ Analysis of the learning approach

Interest is the best teacher. So how to motivate them, develop their interest and build up their self-study ability are the first things I am considering.

Pair-work can make a discussion and learn from each other. Competition makes each student exited. They all want to win the game. It can arouse students to think and to express what they want to say bravely. Study becomes more and more excited and active in this kind of environment.

Ⅴ Teaching procedures:

Step one: Lead-in (7 minutes)

Use my own shopping experiences to lead in the topic of this class.

Almost a decade ago, we entered into a new century, at the same time; we accepted a new trend in our life. That is:“Shopping around the world while sitting in front of your computer”. There is a cartoon picture, it tells a story. The seal Duo duo was addicted to online shopping. He bought everything online without leaving his house. He didn’t find that he couldn’t get out of the door until his friends ask him to play outside. But at this time he still didn’t forget shopping online. He still wanted to book two workers online to help him. Then I’ll divide the students into groups; ask them to discuss advantages and disadvantages of online shopping. And show time begin.

Step two: Discussion and debate (9 minutes)

Some students like shipping online while others dislike. First, ask the students to discuss online shopping in groups. Then I will ask the recorder of each group come to the front to write down what their group mates say. At the same time there is a debate discussion between the two groups. This period will be great helpful to understand different opinions of online shopping.

Step three: Pre-writing (5 minutes)

Have a thought about advantages and disadvantages of online shopping.
