III. 教学步骤
Teaching Goals:
1. To improve the Ss’ reading ability.
2. To let Ss know the details about The Three Gorges Dam and the effects it causes.
3. To enable them to master some useful words and expressions.
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1. Leading-in
1. Ask Ss to watch a video about the Yangtze River. Then let a student introduce the Three Gorges Dam to others according to her visiting.
Step 2. Listen to the recording of the text , and match the paragraphs with their general ideas.
Step 3. Intensive reading
(1) Read the passage aloud and decide the following statements are true or false.
(2) Read the text and then choose the best answers.
Step 4. Read the passage carefully and write questions for the answers. P53
Step 5. Retell and fill in blanks
Step 6. Summary
Step 7. Small debate
Then after the debate, display the advantages and disadvantages of the Three Gorges Dam. Call on the students to study hard.
