Through reading loudly, Ss get the general ideas and solve some easy questions.
Teaching Procedures: (Greeting everybody)
Step1 lead-in
1.The teacher will take the students to visit “The Three Gorges Dam”,but first she will ask some questions,
Q1 :Do you like travelling?
Q2:Which province is The Three Gorges Dam in?
2.(in order to get more…)The teacher shows the video and the students answer a question while watching the video,
Q4:How long and how wide is it?
Step2? ?Analize the text
一.(Fast –reading)?
The teacher gives six minutes to students to read the text quickly and answer a question,
Q5:Why did we build “The Three Gorges Dam”?(getting the main idea)
二.Analize the paragraph by paragraph
1.The teacher will set an example to students while reading the first paragraph .she will ask students to pay attention to her pauses and emphasis ,at the same time the students must have marks with the pencils.
Ss:Giving answers :pauses---/in which …/till…;emphasis—Subject+ Verb + Object.
T: After checking answers ,she asks the whole class to read the paragraph1 loudly again and also answer a question ,
Q6: Which is the world’s third longest river?
Let’s continue paragraph2.The teacher gives 2 minutes to the whole class to read paragraph2 loudly and finish the tasks:
Q7 Is it the largest hydro-electric power station and dam in the world?
Q8:Findingpauses while reading P2.
T: checking Q7and the teacher ask a student to read paragraph2 loudly again and the whole class should pay attention to “his pauses”, after then ,asks another student to give his different opinion.
T: checking answers and asking Ss to read P2 loudly again.
3.Let’s continue paragraph3.The teacher also gives 2 minutes to the whole class to read P3 loudly and finish the tasks : (T )or (F)
