The defining Attributive Clause and The Non-defining Attributive Clause is the grammar part in Book 3 Module 6. It emphasizes how to distinguish the non-defining attributive clause from the defining attributive clause and how to use this kind of attributive clause correctly.

Class 3 Grade 1 is one of the key classes at Guiyang No. 3 Experimental High School. Most of the students in this class have a good command of English.

know the different definitions of the defining and non-defining attributive clauses;
2. know four rules of the non-defining attributive clause that are different from the defining attributive clause:
when we are talking about somebody or something unique, we’d better use the non-defining clause rather than the defining clause.
the relative pronoun “which” can refer to the main clause.
we can use the structure “ some/none/half... of which/whom”
when using the non-defining attributive clause, we never use “that” and we never omit the relative pronouns.
describe some persons or things by using the defining or non-defining attributive clauses correctly.
过程与方法
In this lesson, students will learn about the defining and non-defining attributive clauses through guided discovery based on pictures of my home. The lesson starts with a discussion and matching activity. This is followed by some descriptions of my home which will enable students to find out 4 different rules of non-defining attributive clauses. Finally, students will be able to describe some persons or things by using the correct attributive clauses via a final group work activity.

Students will understand that home is the warmest place in the world and their school is the place where they can study, make friends and have fun. They should not only love their homes but also love their school and cherish the time they spend at school.
