☆Difficult point: Students will be able to write an application letter.
Teaching methods: 1. CLT 2. TBLT
Teaching aids: The multi-media and other normal teaching tools
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Greetings and Lead-in (2mins)
T introduces the teaching aims: Ss learn how to write a paragraph to make a self-introduction in an application letter.
Step 2 Pre-writing (15mins)
Read and understand an application letter;
Analyze the layout of an application letter;
Help the Ss learn some useful expressions for an application letter;
Do some translation exercises to consolidate.
Step 3 While-writing (10mins)
T gets the Ss to start writing with some requirements and possibly useful sentence structures shown on the screen, and they are expected to finish the self-introduction part of an application letter in 10 minutes.(T goes into the Ss to offer help if necessary and makes sure of the writing time as well)
Step 4 Post-writing (8-10mins)
Get some Ss to show their writings before the whole class, and the whole class make comments together with some hints on the screen.
Step 5 Summarize: (3mins)
Step 6 Homework
Ask Ss to improve and complete their application letters after class.
