The attributive clause is used to modify a noun or pronoun. It begins with a relative pronoun ( th at, which, who, whom and whose ) or relative adverb ( when, where and why ). It can be restrictive or non-restrictive. A restrictive attributive clause is essential in order to complete the meaning of the main clause. A non-restrictive attributive clause gi ves extra information to t he main clause, but is not necessary for meaning. The non-restrictive attributive clause is se t off by a comma.
