Unit 4 Great Scientists
Grammar: Passive voiceBackground information【Analysis of teaching material】
In this module, passive voice is introduced based on the topic of scientists.Passive voice is one of the most commonly used grammar. Students have learned it in junior high. But they are likely to run into two problems. First, different tenses of passive voice. Passive voice is closely related to verb tense, so it’s not easy to find out the correct tense in the context. Second, the reason why the passive voice should be used. Passive voice is not so typical in Chinese, but it’s one of the features of idomatic English. It’s difficult for students to develop the sense of using passive voice. In this module, based on great scientists, passive voice is easier to understand because passive voice stresses the action and present state of a certain phenomenon.Scientists create something, and their creations make great difference to the human being.【Analysis of students】
