Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Lead in
1). Arouse students ’interests in Noah Webster with some pictures.
2). Focus on the title of the text and brainstorm about it to predict the contents.
Step 2: Global reading
Help students comprehend the text by raising questions and finding answers to them.
Step 3: Detailed reading
Classify the information about Noah Webster to enable students to get detailed knowledge about him with the help of the diagram.
Step 4: Role play - Talk Show (see Appendix)
1).Finish the written handout.
2).Act out the interview.
Step 5: Critical thinking
Help students have a deeper thinking by raising questions and finding answers to them.
Step 6: Homework
Encourage students to search the Web for more information about Noah Webster.

H: Noah Webster, born on October 16, 1758, is known for The American Dictionary of the English Language. He has been called the “Father of American Scholarship and Education”. His “Blue-Backed Speller” books were used to teach spelling and reading to five generations of American children. But how much do you know about him beyond that?
Today we have invited Ms. Smith to WFLS to join our program. She is the famous scholar who has studied Noah Webster for many years. Let’s welcome her.
