教学内容分析:
本模块以A Job Worth Doing为话题,旨在通过本模块的学习,让学生了解什么样的工作才值得人们去做,如何去做值得做的工作,对社会和人们有益的工作,使学生树立正确的人生观和价值观。
这节课的内容是本模块的主体部分,介绍了一位志愿者Timoteo Apaza为了救他人的生命,甘愿在艰苦的环境下不求回报的当一名人体交通标志的伟大事迹。通过本课的学习,旨在引导学生树立正确的人生观和价值观,为日后工作的选择做铺垫。通过做相关阅读训练题以及思考讨论题,让学生学习新的词汇、句型,提高自身的阅读能力,并学习主人公乐于奉献的精神。
二、学情分析:
这是必修五Module 2的一篇阅读课,学生在语言理解上会有一定的障碍。我们班为典型的理科班,男生居多,听说读写能力较差,较缺乏学习英语的兴趣和信心。但好在有Introduction的导入,让学生对职业已经有了一定的认识和理解,也掌握了部分生词。
这个单元旨在帮助学生形成正确的就业观和价值观。对于高二学生而言,他们的价值观已基本形成,可以对一些事物进行独立的思考,并作出正确的选择。本课通过描述一名叫Timoteo Apaza的志愿者的事迹,让学生受到感染和启发,通过小组讨论帮助学生树立更加全面、正确的价值观,即无私奉献、不求回报。
三、教学目标:
By the end of the lesson,students will be able to:
Understand the new words and phrases in the passage.
Get the detailed information about the man named Timoteo Apaza through reading and answer some questions related to the passage.
Express their ideas and form the right values.
Have the belief that help others or do some meaningful things without pay,such as being a volunteer..
Write a short passage whose theme is about volunteer.

Deal with the new words and phrases in the passage.
Understand what the passage talks about by finishing the activities related to the passage.
Understand the theme of this passage and then transfer the knowledge into the description of being a volunteer.

Due to the cultural difference, students can’t understand the human traffic signal that the passage mainly talks about well.
