Analysis of the teaching materials
The first teaching materials are used for listening practice.It is a conversation between the interviewer and the interviewee Clair. In the first part, they talk something about the qualification ,language spoken ,experience and personality,which are very common questions for the interviewers. In the second part ,they talk something about the pay,working hours,contract and career prospects,which are very common questions the interviewees care about a lot. To some degree,these two parts can set a nice example to the following role play for my students.Therefore ,I would like to make full use of this material to get my students ready for the next part.
The second teaching material is a video clip from the movie The pursuit of Happyness, in which the hero Chris is having an interview with the boss of stoker company.From the first impression ,he doesn’t have any advantages. However ,he finally conquers all the people present by showing his excellent qualities : diligent ,determined, team-playing ,humorous and so on.So this material is completely suitable for my students.Besides finishing all the exercise,my students can benefit a lot from this video and draw the conclusion that our personal qualities matter a lot.
Analysis of the students.
The students are not the top students in my school.They are a little bit afraid of listening and speaking English in front of class.However, they are willing to learn well and have the desire to speak English. Besides, some of the students are curious about something new and want to do something challenging.(According to their English teacher ). Since I know nothing about their grades and personality , what I should do is to try to encourage my students to feel relaxed in my class and design all kinds of activities suitable for the students of different levels.
