1. The first step is to distinguish the predicate and Non-finite verbs.

The second step is to find the logical subject of the non-finite verb in the sentence.If there is no word in front of the blank punctuation in front of the blank or words which is not nouns in front of the blank, the subject of the sentence is the logical subject of the non-finite verb; if there is a noun or pronoun which is in front of the blank, the noun or pronoun is the logical subject of the non-finite verb.
3,The third step is to tell the active situation and passive situation,the V-ing means active situation,the V-ed means the passive situation. If the relationship between the non-finite verb and the logical subject is active, we use the V-ing, if the relationship between the non-finite verb and the logical subject is passive, we use V-ed.
