READING 2 The Wrong Kind of Small Talk is from Student’s Book 6,which is published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.
Students analysis
Students are from Class 2, Grade 2. They are 69 students in my class, 37 are boys and 32 are girls. Some of them are not good at and interested in English learning. Only a few can answer questions smoothly, most of them cannot.
Teaching goals
Aims of knowledge
Enable the students to know what the wrong kind of small talk is and how to do proper small talk.
Enable the students to understand some useful expressions: as a consequence, make systematic mistakes, look awkward, tease a typist, go red, without any apology, put on weight…
Aim of ability
Enable the students to know more about social skills.
Aim of emotion
Develop students’ interest of doing proper small talk.
