2学情分析

The target students of this lesson are in Grade two of senior high. The students have accumulated some words and expressions to express their point of views and?most of them have their short-term?and long-term?goals. However, they don't know what good qualities are necessities to help them overcome difficulties. Before this lesson, the teacher has guided the students appreciate some exciting parts of the film, which can help them have a better understanding of the reading passage. Meanwhile, the passage in the cultural corner is a little bit simple, so the teacher integrated more information about the story and character in the reading material.

3重点难点

1. Important points: Understand the story as a whole and summarize the characteristics of the main characters.

2. Difficult points: Discuss the good qualities of the heroes and how to make use of?the good qualities?to help the students achieve their goals.

4.1第一学时

1教学目标

1. Knowledge objectives: Have a good command of new vocabulary, such as elf, dwarf, possess.

2. Language skills objectives:Developed the students’ prediction, skimming and scanning skills in reading comprehension. Guide the students' to express personal ideas in proper language.

3. Emotion and value objectives: Learn the good qualities from the heroes in the story. Take advantages of these good?qualities to attack the students’ own limitations and realize their dreams.

4. Cultural awareness objectives: Cultivate the students’ interest in fantasy literature and have a better understanding of the difference between Chinese and western literature.

5, Learning strategy objectives: Develop the students’communicative and cooperative strategy in group work.

活动1【导入】?Lead-in

1. Introduce?Chinese fantasy literature "Snow White and Seven Dwarves" to the students and get the students compare the difference between Chinese fantasy literature and western fantasy literature.?

2. Get the students appreciate a short video from the film named "The Lord of the Rings".

3. Guide the students to read the introduction of the writer who wrote the novel "The Lord of the Rings"

Stimulate the students’ interest in this Module and the topic of this lesson. Besides, help the students get more information about the western writer.
