2. The author used many writing techniques to organize the article such as listing numbers, giving examples, and quotation. For example, to stress the cruelty of the war, many numbers are used in this article.

Students analysis:

The students can understand the basic information and feel part of the author’s attitude in this article. But it will be difficult for them to express themselves in English. Most of them lack the ability of analyzing the genre and structure of the article. In addition, most of them can’t infer the author’s writing intention properly.
