Part 1 is a main plot of the story of Frankenstein
Part 2 is an extract from Frankenstein, just the very beginning of the book.
Step 1 Leading-in
Show some pictures to see that cloning is a trend now. Though we human beings cannot be
created by cloning, we can imagine it in literature--- Frankenstein.
Step 2 Fast reading part 1
Put the right words to the right characters, in time order.
Step 3 Fast reading part 2
Summarize the main idea of part 2.
Stop 4 Intensive reading part 2
para. 1 Background description by some elements, to describe the horrible scene
para. 2 Character 1, the monster’s description by some color words, to describe his ugly
para.3-4 Character 2, the scientist
behaviors’ description by many verbs, to show his frightened feelings.
language’s description by Subjunctive, to show his regretful feelings
Step 5 Practice: teach students how to use the learnt writing skills to write a story
Step 6 Post-reading: to lead students think about that why the story developed into a tragedy? Who should be blame? If the tragedy can be avoided? How?
Step 7 Assignment: write a letter to handle a conflict between you and your parents.
