Analysis the Teaching Material
This module mainly discuss basketball and basketball players in the world. This class is the first period of reading. The passage “Michael Jordan and Wilt the stilt” talks about the two famous worldwide players, which include their basic information and their achievements.
According to the new Curriculum Criteria, I decide to adopt Task-based Learning (TBL).The students will be given time to describe the famous basketball players, and then we will introduce Michael Jordan and Wilt to them. The students should know more things according to the basic information.
They should know how to catch the important information quickly and correctly. They should obtain and analysis the information in English by summarization and conclusion. It is a challenge for students. I decide to make use of the pictures to get the students to master the main idea. Then I use some questions to lead the students to conclude the key information and make comparison. This method can clearly show the relation between the information and will make it easier for the students to understand the passage.

The main task:
The students will be helped to improve their reading ability through detailed-reading, and obtain more information about Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
Language focus:
In this period, the students should know more things about Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain, including their basic information and their achievements.
Language skills:
In this period, the students will be guided to use skimming and detailed-reading skills to obtain the main idea and the needed information. What’s more, the students will be guided to analysis and conclude useful information.
